The Project – Viva Energy Geelong Refinery – Reactor Dome Heat Treatment
The Viva Energy Geelong Refinery is one of four refineries remaining in Australia. It supplies over 50% of Victoria’s and 10% of Australia’s fuel and employs around 700 people.
Renteca was asked to provide power generation and preheating equipment in order for the reactor dome to be heated prior to weld repairs during the plant shutdown period. Power uptime was critical for the project and a safe method of heating.
The Solution
Renteca’s two part solution was to provide 10 Miller Proheat 35 induction heating water cooled packages including heating cables and accessories for the project. Renteca also provided two Catapillar 500 kva generators to supply the required power to the induction heating equipment. In order to meet the power uptime requirements the generators were configured in a duty/standby configuration. In the event of generator failure the standby generator would start and supply load within 20 seconds.
