Miller Big Blue® 600X Duo Air Pak 50 Hz FAQ

Explain the significance of the 50 Hz feature. What is this and why is it important?

Many US made diesel welders run at the US standard 60 Hz. However, Australian standards are 50 Hz for both 3-phse and single-phase power supplies. The ban on 60 Hz generators at Australian mine sites is primarily due to potential overheating of transformers and motors driven by 60Hz supply. This can occur when standard Australian equipment is plugged into 60 Hz generators.  Due to several safety incidents caused by overheated equipment, many mines have banned 60 Hz diesel welders. Generators must comply with specific Australian standards (AS/NZS 3010 and AS/NZS 3000) to ensure safe installation and operation.

What is ArcReach® Technology?

Miller’s ArcReach Technology is designed to enhance productivity and safety on welding job sites by allowing welders to control their welding equipment remotely.

Adjust While Welding (AWW): This feature allows welders to adjust welding parameters (such as voltage, wire feed speed, and amperage) directly at the weld joint without walking to the power pack.

Cable Length Compensation (CLC): ArcReach automatically compensates for voltage drop in the weld cables, ensuring that the voltage set at the power source is the same as the voltage at the weld joint.

Auto-Process Reversion: When the current welding process is turned off, the system automatically reverts to the original process settings, making it easier to switch between different welding tasks.

Increased Efficiency: By reducing the time spent walking to and from the power source, ArcReachTechnology can save up to 250 hours per operator per year, boosting productivity and reducing labor costs.

Overall, ArcReach Technology helps welders stay focused on their work, reduces interruptions, and enhances safety on the job site.
